One Month Left at JD

Monday March 18- We had one more day to play before our work week starts. The weather wasn't good for beach or kayaks so we came up with something else. We went to visit the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary. We arrived early, even before they were open. Since we got there so early we had an awesome parking spot. It's free to visit and we love looking at the animals. First we visited the bears and panthers. I got some good pictures. They were fun to watch. The cats had a coconut that they were playing with in the water. Quite fun to watch, just like giant kitties.

We moved over to look at the other animals. I loved the bobcats. They had some foxes, bald eagles, birds, alligators, we saw turkeys, deer, and some really cool owls. I love looking at all the critters and we timed it perfect. We got there and the animals were out and about. We left just when it was getting busy. Always a good time. We always have to visit the gift shop to make a donation. Here are some of my pictures.

After leaving here, we stopped for a early lunch at Panera's. Next we went to the movie at Cinepolis. We went to see Greenbook. We both loved the movie. We were a bit hesitate to see it because it had won some oscars. When that happens we don't always like the movie. After the movie we made our way back to the campground. I think that's enough excitement for one day. Back to work tomorrow.

Tuesday March 19- Oh my, rain, rain, rain. It was crazy. We did our job in the car today trying to stay dry. We did all the shower houses in the morning because the rain was light. In the afternoon the rain picked up and the temperatures dropped. I made chili for supper. After supper we went up to the pavilion to play left, right, center. We had quite a group show up, even with the crappy weather. It is a dice game that is easy enough for everyone, yet fun enough for everyone. It was a blast. The wind and rain even stopped for a bit.

Wednesday March 20- Well I think it rained more today than yesterday. Most of it coming in the morning. The afternoon was spotty. I tried to get out to get Ruby a walk. We would get out and it would start raining again. The one positive thing is we spotted a rainbow on our walk. Then as we were finishing up are walk the rain arrived again.

Thursday March 21- It was cloudy today but no rain. We took the cart today and had a good day. We even saw some blue sky and sunshine. I have been working on some scrap book stuff for the kiddos. I keep them a birthday scrapbook. I wanted to get there latest birthdays in there. We went down to the concession area for a volunteer happy hour. It is getting time for some of the volunteers to hit the road. We had a lot of people show up. Steve even brought some moonshine cherries. I thought they were awful but people kept eating them. We had fun visiting and some drinking.

Friday March 22- First thing we did was laundry, then I did some cleaning out of the basement. I found some things that we didn't need to keep. It was a pretty nice day so we decided to go for a bike ride. We stayed in the park. Went down the old highway road that runs through the park. Then we made our way to the Hobe Mountain Tower. It is also in the park. Miss Ruby came along for the ride as well.

The rest of the afternoon and evening we stayed at our rig. Sometimes its nice to just hang around here and watch the park and any critters that might show up.

Saturday March 23- Happy Birthday Belle, today she is 11 years old. This morning Jeff made us a campfire. We don't get too many of those because of the wind here at the park. It warmed up so fast we had to  move back away from the fire....it was nice while it lasted. We even gave Belle a birthday pig ear to enjoy......

This afternoon we went to Blue Point first for a drink then we went to Tiki 52.  The Killbillies are playing there from 4-7. We have been trying to get to see them and today was the day. It was really nice out there today. While we were sitting at the bar we spotted some JD volunteers show up. We talked with them for a while. Then it was time for the show. We were not disappointed. The show was a good one and the crowd was fun too.

Sunday March 24- Off to church with us. Today they had 5 in 5. That's where 5 people share a bit about their stories....well 5 minutes worth. Each one was great and it seemed to fly by. After church we came home and I made brunch. We walked the dogs, sat outside, and visited with some. I also made cookies for some volunteers that are leaving in a couple days. I guess the most exciting thing was waiting to here how our grand daughter, Hailey did at her state gymnastics meet. She placed 6th on the beam and qualified for regionals. Her parents are really good keeping us informed. We are very proud of her.

Monday March 25- It was a cloudy day with dabbles of rain. We did some shopping today. I went to Michaels to get a scrapbook for Maddyn's birthday book. Went to Trader Joe's. Today was Ken and Mary's last work day. They are leaving tomorrow and won't be back next year. I took them down there cookies. Then it started raining a bit, followed by a rainbow.....

Tuesday March 26-Started off the day by sending Ken and Mary on there way. Then we went to work. We finished by 1 o'clock which is good. I then came back and made deviled eggs. We are having our last volunteer potluck tomorrow.

Wednesday March 27- Another good work day getting done by 1. After we got done with work the wind really picked up. Our potluck was at 7. We had a great turnout. There are a bunch leaving tomorrow. Our dinner was really good and it was nice to see everyone again before taking off. Some will return next year and some will not. Here are a few pictures of the fun.

Just as everyone was packing up to leave the wind picked up, the temperatures dropped, and the rain poured down. Needless to stay we hung around a bit longer. It was a nice evening.

Thursday March 28- We had crazy wind today...most of the day. The good news...done at 12:30. That doesn't happen very often. Since we were done so early I went ahead and did the laundry today. Then we just stayed here and we made a gourmet supper.

Friday March 29- Going to do some running today. First out for breakfast. Jeff wanted to go back to Berry Fresh. We had a nice breakfast and then went to get my prescriptions. We also stopped at the store before heading back. When I got back we walked Ruby and said good bye to Wayne and Linda. Another volunteer leaving. We went out for supper tonight. We wanted to go back to Leftovers before we leave. We went early to beat the rush. It is always busy there. I tried the sweet potato encrusted fish. It was served over a bed of greens. Now I loved the fish but didn't care for the greens. I must admit I am very , very picky eater. Jeff had the tuna basil roll, its sushi. He loved it. He helped with my fish too.

After dinner we headed over to the Twisted Trunk Brewery. They are having The String Assassins play tonight. We saw just a little of them a couple weeks ago and wanted to see them again. When we first arrived Jeff wasn't sure of the place. It was super busy and very loud. It cleared out a bit. Those folks were just stopping to get a drink after work. We found a table were we could watch the band. We also invited folks to join us because we had lots of room. So we got to visit with some nice people. The band was awesome. It is really hard to describe there music. It is fun and they are very talented musicians. We had a great time. So glad we stayed.

Saturday March 30- We slept in a bit. It was spitting rain so we put in a movie to watch. We hung around here today. We said good bye to our neighbors, Ron and Nancy.  Then we left here and went to Harborside. We had supper at Burger Fei, then found a seat to save for the concert. The group True Rumors are playing. They are a Fleetwood Mac tribute band. The venue is a new one for us and it was really a nice one. The band was good but both Jeff and I aren't huge Fleetwood Mac fans. It was a nice evening. Our supper was really good too.

Sunday March 31- The last day of the month, we have 2 weeks left here. We started our Sunday off the best way, attending Generation Church. We got to greet today. Jeff drove the truck today. He likes to get it out and run it every couple weeks. Then we made a Walmart stop. Next we went to wash the truck, finally filled it up with fuel. It's already to travel. We came back to the campground and just hung around here. We figured we have ran enough for one weekend. Made a yummy supper and called it a day.
