Hanging Out Solo

Monday April 13- Last night around 4 a.m. I heard Jeff up. He hadn't heard the furnace run for a while. So he went to investigate. The propane ran out so he switched it over to the other tank and it worked just fine. Just a normal Monday did a little cleaning and decided to go ahead and put away my Easter decorations. I got a call from Margret, my nephew's wife. She told me that my brother in law was not good. Jay is married to my sister Dru. He has been battling ALS. Today that battle was over. He was such a good guy. He always did for others. Now I'm concerned for my sister because her health isn't that good. I can't go yet but in a couple days I am finished with my quarantine. Then I will go back and see what I can do to help. Again with this virus no services are happening so things just stop. No closure. They plan on doing something later when they can. Then I look outside and I see snow flurries....really?

Tuesday April 14- It's another cold one, 27 degrees when we woke up. Man that is way too cold for me. We are out here in this park all by ourselves so we could get out and walk, but it's so cold and today you can add in big wind. I got all dressed up thinking I could stay warm. Nope that wind goes right through you. Also with the cold weather they can't turn on the water and we are going through the water that they brought us. I ordered up my prescriptions the other day but I had to use a different Walgreen's because the one I usually use has closed. So today I went to pick them up. Went through the drive thru...never did that before. When I got home I needed a project so I have some Halloween fabric that I got a few years ago to make a table runner. Well next Halloween I will have a new table runner. I put it together today but I still need to finish it up. I have to get fabric for the back and quilt it. It doesn't take long with something that small. Then Jeff said I should go ahead and try to set up my social security. So I got started but it didn't work. I need to go in. I think it because of our address. So that will have to wait until this virus stuff clears up too.

Wednesday April 15- Oh boy this morning it was 22 degrees. The cold weather is one thing, but then stuck here with nothing to do. I think it would really help if you could just get outside and walk.
I tried again with the walk but the wind, didn't last very long. Today we had a small project. Jeff has stuff to reinforce the valance and blind over the kitchen table. We have had it come down while traveling and just putting the screws back in wasn't holding it anymore. When the stuff fell down the last time the blind would pull down but then you couldn't get it up. We took it apart and got it to go up but the stop doesn't work quite right. So we tried to fix that again too. We couldn't get it so we will just let it go all the way up and pull it down a bit. I don't think the valance will be falling down anytime soon. Didn't have much to do so I found a book up in the cabinet, it was a small one so I managed to read that today. Jeff made supper tonight, he made taco pie. They used to make it at the fire station.

Thursday April 16- Well it was 19 degrees this morning, I think we might be breaking records here. Don't really want to be a part of those kind of records. Again didn't have much to do. I'm thinking about heading to Keokuk tomorrow. My quarantine is over. Seth called to say Ashton is not going to work for a couple weeks to quarantine. Then we can finally see them. So I thought I better get to Keokuk and back to quarantine as well. So I have that to look forward to. I did coloring today.

I have a big set of gel pens coming from Amazon but until then I have limited colors. It warmed up enough that Jeff could get the oil changed in the car. First time Jeff did this one himself. The car is so small that its hard to get under it but we found some ramps.

Friday April 17- Woke up to this.........yikes. I knew that Keokuk was suppose to get some snow but we didn't think we would. Surprise! The good news is it felt warmer out there than it has for days. It was also very pretty. It was a perfect snow, it melted on the roads but kept it on grass. It wasn't going to last long. It is suppose to heat up. The snow was clinging to all the trees. Without people around it was also undisturbed. Here are a few more shots.

It's pretty huh? Well I packed up my stuff and headed south to Keokuk. The snow was already melting. So my trip was no problem. I drove to my sister's house in Keokuk. There was no hugging but it was just nice to see her face to face. They cared for her husband, Jay there so there is still a lot of stuff there to remind her. She isn't able to get around very well and her kids and grand kids are helping.  I decided to clean up the pantry so it's easier to see what she'll need. Then we came up with a plan on what she wants to get done tomorrow. Then I went over to my friend  Judy's house to spend the night. We haven't been able to see each other for quite awhile either. Again no hugs but lots of talking. Stayed up way to late but it was worth it.

Saturday April 18- I know I'm getting old because I used to sleep well anywhere, not anymore. I really prefer my own bed. Got up and got dressed. Judy decided she wants to come to Dru's to help. We arrived and made a plan. First I made her a pineapple upside down cake. Never made one of those before but that's what she wanted. Then we got busy cleaning out the frig and freezer. She wanted to go through her clothes and put then in another dresser so we got that done. We spent most of the day there. Then we headed back to Judy's. We ordered a pizza and watched a movie. Judy and I were both tired so we didn't stay up that late.

Sunday April 19- This morning Judy and I visited for a bit. Then I packed up and headed toward Palo. The sun was shining and it was an easy drive. When I got home I had to unload and put everything away. Jeff had went earlier this morning and picked up our groceries. It was warm enough that we could go for a walk today. That was nice. While I was gone they got the water turned on. That is good news because I can do the laundry. I really don't like using tank water because of the pump noise. It drives me crazy.

Monday April 20- Today I had a list of things I wanted to get done. It is suppose to warm up some, with some sunshine. First thing on the list is laundry. I have a bunch to do. We just have a small washer so I had to do 5 loads. I also did some cleaning up inside the rig too. Then Jeff decided to start picking up sticks here in the campground. They are going to start mowing later this week and with all the wind there was plenty of sticks. Well I had hung up some clothes and went around behind the rig and I see Jeff laying in the grass...I think what is he doing? I hollar at him and he waves me over. When I get there he tells me that as he was picking up a stick his back went out. Great. I asked if he could get up with help? He said give me a minute. Then I helped him up and we walked back to the rig very carefully and very slow. We get up in the rig and get home and comfy in his chair. Good thing he kept those muscle relaxants. So the rest of the day if he wanted to move he needed help. The good thing is he could get comfy. So he wasn't in a whole lot of pain all the time. The rest of the afternoon I picked up sticks and took an inventory of our cleaning supplies.

Tuesday April 21- Jeff slept good last night. I got up and took out the dogs, and made the coffee. Jeff usually does that in the morning. Then we got him out of bed. Jeff thinks his back feels a bit better. I got him comfy and started on my to do list. I wanted to finish up picking up the sticks in our loop. Then Carl came by to tell me the water is on in the shower houses but no hot water yet. I went up to see what supplies are up there. As the day went on Jeff feels more confident with his back. He doesn't need help getting up now. He still needs to take is easy.

Wednesday April 22- Jeff's back is better this morning. That's what we want, continued improvement. It felt really cool this morning, but it is suppose to warm up. I went up to our shower house and cleaned the storage area and swept the floor on the women's side. When it warmed up some I decided to clean out the fire pits. The park had campers in here before all this virus stuff. They didn't have the dumpsters here then. The campers put all there trash in the fire pits. So that was my next project. For lunch we had a special delivery. Seth our oldest son brought us a pizza for lunch, which was really good. After lunch we drove in to Palo to fill up the car with gas. Since the sun was out and so was we, we decided to go for a drive. Went in to this trailer park where we have looked at a couple units. Jeff has looked at them online and we thought we would just do a drive by. When we arrived and drove by the units, they had open house signs up. We called and they said you could just go in and look. If you had questions give them a call afterwards. We went in if nobody else was there and looked around. We probably went in 5 or 6 of them. Most of them we knew no way as soon as we got in there. We did see a couple that we liked. I took a few pictures of them.

After leaving here we went by our sons house. Jeff had ordered a part for his new guitar. Went to pick it up. So hugs, no touching but really good to see them. They even brought Maddyn out. So at least we got to see them

We came home and then temperature just kept getting better. Went for a walk up to the second loop with Miss Ruby.

Thursday April 23- The weatherman said today was going to be warm and sunny.....they lied. It was cool and gray most of the day. I went up to the 2nd loop to clean the storage area there. I also swept the floors in the men's and women's restroom area. Then I went to the pump house to get supplies for both of the shower houses. When I got back home I decided to try and get my quilt layered together and pinned. My floor in the rig isn't big enough. I had to do half at a time and roll it up. It worked a lot better than I thought it would. Hoping to start the quilting on it tomorrow.

Friday April 24- It rained quite a bit last night. When Jeff got up it was still raining. Luckily it quit soon after I got up. Jeff went in and picked up the groceries. So we put them away before anything else. I called a friend about quilting on this applique. She gave me some idea's and encouragement. This quilting project is completely different than what I'm used to. I usually have the whole thing planned out before I start. This time, at least on the applique part I will just be winging it. Hoping for the best. Just like that I started on it.

Saturday April 25- Woke up this morning and no wind. In case I have failed to talk about the wind it has been crazy up here. I walked up to the 2nd loop to clean out there fire pits. Jeff pulled out our fireplace this morning. Yesterday it kept kicking off. He looked it up on the trouble shooting guide and said maybe clean it out. We already replaced the heating unit before. So we figured it was dusty or broke. Well after a good cleaning the thing went on and it didn't kick off. We waited a while before putting it back in. Fingers crossed it will keep on working. It kept warming up so Ruby and I went across the road and down the hill to the lake. We were watching the ducks. I think Ruby likes them.

Sunday April 26- It's gonna be a beauty of a day today. It was cool to start but warmed up nicely.  I washed the car and cleaned it out inside. Jeff washed the truck too. I went for a walk down by the playground area to pick up trash. The campground is closed but the rest of the park is open. I can't believe how busy it has been out here, that is when the weather cooperates. The wind was non-existant today. I grabbed my camera and went down to the water. I spotted some ducks and I wanted to get some pictures. I started taking pictures before I even got all the way down the hill. I was afraid they would take off. The water was so flat that the reflection shots were amazing. Here are a few of my favorites.

While I was busy with these 2 guys I notice a couple on land heading for the water. I turn and start taking pictures of them and notice it is a whole family. I got some pics of them before they swam off.

After a bit I walked back up to the rig. Since I had my camera I took some pictures of our empty campground. I hope that we will be getting some campers out here soon. It is so quiet and lonely.

Hopefully this virus thing will start to calm down, stay safe......
