Florida Fun

Monday November 12- We are still at Blueberry Hill. We continued getting things done that we have been putting off. I gave Belle a haircut and also Jeff. Different clippers of course. Jeff got the truck washed today. It was real nice out there today, nice and warm. Spent some time at the pool. We also called to double check on our appointment at Suncoast.

Tuesday November 13- A big road trip today. We decided to venture out and make our way to Disney's Animal Kingdom. As we pulled up I was thinking....what have we gotten ourselves in to? Jeff wanted to come and ride on the new Avatar ride. We got there right when they were opening and it was kind of like herding cattle. We got parked, rushed to catch the shuttle, hurried in to the line to purchase our $114.00 tickets. Well next through the gate and run to the Avatar ride. When we arrived the wait line was 105 minutes. We thought it would only get worse so we got comfy in our spot. While I waited in line Jeff went to get some fast passes. The line started off moving fairly quick. It still was about 2 hours. The ride was unbelievable. It was something to see and ride. We also had some fun people around us to visit with.

You couldn't really get any pictures inside but believe me it was something to see and do. After this was over we made our way to the Safari. Jeff had a fast pass for this one and it worked out really well. The wait wasn't bad at all for this one. We saw lots of critters for sure. Here our some of my favorite shots.

After this we were hungry so we found a place to eat. Jeff had some chicken kabobs with beans and he thought it was really good. Then after sitting and resting a bit we headed over to Everest to ride the coaster. The line went fairly quick. We have rode this before but neither of us remember it being quite like that. I guess we are getting old.

While making our way to Everest we passed the tree of life. This is really quite the marvel to look at. The animals that are carved in to the tree our crazy. I bet you can't even see them all. Really neat to see. Well next we are making our way to The Lion King show. We had another fast pass for this one. While we were waiting for the last show to let out Jeff got us a drink and we watched some street performers. The music was playing and the crowd was excited. Nice to have something to entertain you while you wait.

Now into the Lion King Show and it was fun. They really make it audience friendly. Having you join in on the fun. It was dark so my pictures aren't that good.

The stage was moved right in front of you while you watch all the entertainers. What fun especially for the kids....or me. After this show we looked at some shops and made our way to the parking lot. Our pups are probably wondering where we are..Bye for now....

Wednesday November 14- A traveling day. We are making our way to Hudson Florida to visit Suncoast Designs. We are finally going to get our windows fixed. We pulled in and backed into a spot. Before too long the guys were over removing our windows and covering them up with cardboard. Getting busy on repairing them.

We had the broken window to get replaced and 5 windows that was fogged. They can fix the fogged ones. They took the windows in to the shop to fix so we decided to take advantage of where we were. While traveling down we realized how close we are to Weeki Wachi. We have some friends that are staying on the river here. So we gave them a call and made our way to there place. We checked out there spot where  they are wintering and its really nice and right on the river. Then we went to lunch at Zig Zag Scallop. The food was OK, the service was a bit slow but we had good company. It was fun and gave us a chance to catch up. We have been going to visit with them on the road but it just never seemed to work out. Ben and Rhonda are from our home town. It was a nice afternoon.

Thursday November 15-  We thought we might be on our way today but it looks like it will be another day. It is gray and rainy today. We went for breakfast at the Waffle house. We aren't gonna do much today. I got online and saw that there is 3 quilt stores close by. Well that was a joke. The first one was on empty lot. The second was in a house, kind of sketchy neighborhood so I didn't stop. The third was a sewing machine shop with 2 old fellas running it. I think it was mostly repair work. I did get my prescriptions picked up. While I was there I got some pictures printed out for birthday scrapbooks. I also got to work on the blog. So it was a productive day. We called Jonathan Dickinson park to let them know we would be a day late.

Friday November 16- Happy Birthday to our son Justin today. It is another chilly morning and we are hoping they will be early instead of late putting the windows back in. We have a fairly good drive ahead of us to Jonathan Dickinson and want to be out of here before noon at the latest. We were on the road at 11:15. It was quite a trip because of so many road changes but we made it. Arriving at about 4:30. They had everything ready for us. Our site was #88. Nice and easy to get into. I got Ruby out for a walk before it got dark. I noticed that Ken and Sandy was already here so I stopped to say HI!

Saturday November 17- Our one full day at J.D. Started with a beauty of a sunrise. We took the dogs for a walk. Then we made a run over to Trader Joe's. Wanted a few things for the next couple weeks. We made lunch when we got home. Ken and Sandy stopped by on her way home from working. We got to here about there adventure this last summer. They went to Maine. something new for them. It was good to see them and visit. We will see them again in January. We went to Tiki 52 for happy hour and to listen to some music by Jason Montero. We have seen him before and Jeff likes him.

We also were excited to hear how Ashton's hockey games came out. So Seth gave us a call after the games, but kept us updated through text while they were playing. They won them both. There record is 6-0 so far this season.

Sunday November 18- Well here we go....we are off to the Keys. Last year we were cancelled out because of the hurricane. We are going to Curry Hammock, Jeff's favorite. We had an easy drive down with only one little problem. Ran in to some traffic because of a big race today but not too bad. We hit the road by 9 a.m. We arrived at Curry about 1 o'clock. We set up on site #17. We backed right in and have room for the truck and the car. We got some stuff out to set up. We are going to be here for 13 days. That seems like a long time since we have been moving so often. After setting up we walked around noticing the changes made by the hurricane. It was a little cloudy and we did get a few sprinkles.

We are ready to get the fun started tomorrow. It looks like it's going to be a good day for fishing.

Monday November 19- Got up early and made my way to the beach to watch the sunrise...it was a beauty.

We got our stuff, kayaks loaded and ready to go. Pulled them down to the beach and out we went. It was a pretty day. The fishing was really fun, caught all kinds of fish. They weren't all keepers but still so much fun. I have missed time in the kayaks fishing. We did bring home a couple keepers so we got a meal.

We loved fishing those mangrove trees, always catching mangrove snappers. With the hurricane damage the mangrove trees are still trying to come back and hopefully the fish will follow. It was a fun day but I think I spent too much time on the water. We rested up for tomorrow.

Tuesday November 20- No breeze this morning the no seeums were out so I stayed in until the wind picked up. We did go back out on the water. Not as much action but we found a mangrove tree that had found a spot out in the water. I think it must have been lost at sea during the hurricane. Anyway it was a great place for the fish to hide. We were catching lane snappers. We brought a couple home again.

Wednesday November 21- A big happy birthday to our daughter in law...Molly. Did look out to witness this beauty of a sunrise. We took the day off from fishing. I did take my floating bean bag chair to the beach. That was nice. The water was really calm so I just sat right in the water.

This was my view today...pretty nice
We had the fish we caught the other day for lunch. Jeff cooked them up and they were super good. I got started working on my Christmas ornaments. Then we made our way to Lor e lei's in Islamorada. We have been there before, one of Jeff's favorites. We were just going to have an appetizer and enjoy happy hour. Our waiter was something.......slow. We had a table so we could watch the music by Webb & Michael. Tonight they also had a magician...Michael Trixx. Here our some pictures of that.

Did I mention that we also got to witness the sunset, which was a beauty. It was a fun evening.

Thursday November 22- It's Thanksgiving....I got up early to make pumpkin pie cake and also get everything else ready to go. We have our feast at lunch so we can have it again for supper. It was just us 2 but we had plenty. Turkey breast in the instant pot. Mashed potatoes with gravy, dressing, green bean casserole and fresh bread. Everything was good.

Jeff went out fishing a bit, I stayed back and finished up my Christmas ornaments. It was a relaxing day.

Friday November 23- We have both boys traveling right now. Today we heard from both of them. Seth and Katie are in Thailand and Justin and Molly are enjoying Hawaii. I started the day with a sunrise, followed by putting up our Christmas stuff.

We walked the dogs and then got ready to make a road trip to Key West. We were going to stop first at Big Pine Key for lunch at The No Name Pub. We were happy to see that it and the key deer survived the hurricane.

We had a light lunch....there bread sticks are amazing!!!! Now onward south to Key West. We found it and a place to park for free. We walked to Duvall Street to witness the madness.

We stopped at a couple bars and listened to music. I also went in some of the shops to look around. Before I knew it time to make our way to Mallory Square to watch the street performers and the sunset. Quite interesting to say the least.

After the sun set it gets crazy down here so we made our way back to the car and started our trip back home.

Saturday November 24- Up to watch the sunrise this morning. Never disappointing. It was so calm out on the water we decided to go out on the water. It was calm to start and then it picked up and got a bit rough. I knew when it was time to come in. Still a great day out on the water.

When we got back I was greeted by a nice critter...we haven't seen as many of these as usual. I was starting to think they were all gone.

We finished the day by going to the beach and watching the sunset.....nice.....

Sunday November 25- Back out on the water today. I caught a couple barracuda and I sure wasn't going to get them off by myself. They have big teeth.

The fishing was a bit slower than usual. I went around and did some exploring. I thought I saw some floating buoys so I went to check it out. When I got there I saw it was attached to a crab trap. It definitely wasn't being checked. I think it was lost in the hurricane and nobody is messing with it. I took a closer look and noticed that there was a shark checking it out. He had his head in the trap looking. I did get a picture but by the time Jeff arrived he had left. We came back and cleaned up. We went to town to get bait and some grocery's. Jeff had just went to K-Mart the other day to get bait and liked it so much went back for more. They didn't have any bait at all. There shelves were really empty. Before heading back we stopped at Island Fish Co. for supper. Jeff got she-crab soup and I had chicken tenders. It was really good and our waiter was great.

That's all for now, but we have another week here at Curry.....
