Wrapping It Up Here

Monday March 19- We have 2 weeks of work before we pack up and head north. Today we went to the beach. We brought Miss Ruby with us. We also had to bring her playpen because she eats everything. It was really quiet there this morning. It was also very calm, hardly any breeze. That made it quite warm so we stayed a couple hours before heading home. It was a good morning.

Tuesday March 20- Started our count down til time to go. I think we are both ready. Today we did a lot of visiting so we were running a bit behind but still managed to finish up around 1 o'clock. It was really warm today, over 90 degrees. I read some today after work. Then we cleaned up to go to a legacy dinner at Pastor Ben and Melissa's. We weren't sure what it was but we had a wonderful time. There were 3 other couples, us and Ben and Melissa. We hadn't met the other couples so it was nice to meet new people. The dinner was good too. I was nervous about that because I'm so picky.  After we ate he had a video about the church, where it had started and the changes it has been through. It was good to see. He told us the story of how they started, and how it has progressed. They started this church with nothing. Every time they added or built on they had the funds. It was really good to see where it started, where it is and the plans for the future. We hurried out because the rain was on the way. On the way home it just poured rain. We had a pool in our site when we got home.

Wednesday March 21- Oh my did it rain last night. Along with the rain a cold front came too. It was really cool this morning, I had to get out pants. To make it colder yet there was a constant wind all day long, out of the north. Today was a long one. We had campers that weren't off the site by 3 o'clock. Check out time is 1. We waited around until 3 then I told them at the ranger station that I give up. I called it a day. We took back the cart and I finished a book. Our neighbor Ella came over for a beer, she is leaving tomorrow. So we said our good byes. She was one of our best camper neighbors.

Thursday March 22- Last work day....it was still chilly out accompanied by wind. Today was a bit better. After work we went over and looked at Peter and Priscilla's Lance camper. Jeff had heard that they are build really well.  Since we met someone that has one, thought we would take advantage of that. They gave us the grand tour and we visited for a bit. We came home and got ready for dinner out. Tonight we are going to dinner with Ken and Mary. They are leaving next Tuesday and so we are celebrating the end of their season. We went to The Square Grouper. It was chilly out so we had our sweatshirts on. We sat outside by the water. The view was awesome. You have to go up and get your own drinks here. You also have to do the same with your food order. The food was good but we kind of like to be waited on when we go out to eat. Now the company was great.

Friday March 23- Cleaning day...then we did some running. Needed to go to Trader Joe's. and pick up some groceries. Then we went out for pizza at Grimaldi's for lunch. We looked around in the shops before we went to the movie theater. Today we saw the movie I Can Only Imagine. It was really good. We headed back home to tend to the pups...it's national puppy day and also Belle's 10th birthday.

Saturday March 24- Walked Miss Ruby this morning. Amanda called to see what time we wanted to meet for lunch at The Twisted Tuna... It will be our last visit there. It is there favorite place. We have been there quite a bit this year. We had lunch and as always the view was great. The company was better than that.

We headed back home. Hailey had her state gymnastic meet today. We wanted to hear how she did. The good news was this was her best meet yet. She didn't make it to regionals. We are very proud of her. She received her best scores yet. Way to go Hailey!!!

Sunday March 25- It's Palm Sunday and our last time to attend Generation Church this season. It was a wonderful service. Kip and Amanda joined us. After church we said our good byes. We went home but we are meeting Kip and Amanda for lunch.

We changed clothes, walked the dogs and then we went to meet Kip and Amanda for lunch at BurgerFi. We haven't been there but they have. It was located in a neat little shopping spot. We got our food and sat outside to eat. The food was really good, the french fries were super.

After eating we strolled around the shopping area. They had some music playing in the area and some venders selling there products. It was a nice way to spend the afternoon. We said our good byes and headed back.

Monday March 26- We had enough playing, so today we got busy. As it gets closer to time to go there are things that need to get done. I started inside, organizing the cabinets. Had to get rid of stuff we didn't need. Then outside to give Belle a haircut.  I cleaned out the rear basement area. I took everything out and vacuumed. Then put things away a bit neater.  I also took apart my swing chair. I'm going to miss that this week. Today was Ken and Mary's last day so we had them over for a happy hour. Steve joined us as well. We were sitting around talking and in rolled some rain, so we all scattered quickly.

Tuesday March 27- The first day of our last week working....we are ready. It was super windy today. The good news it was a easy day. Ken and Mary got away before we could say good bye. After work I went and picked up my prescriptions. Pretty uneventful day...we like those.

Wednesday March 27- Today was a great day at work. The wind died down some and all the campers were eager to get out. We actually finished at 12:30. That doesn't happen to often.

Thursday March 28- It is here!!! It's our last work day this season. We are ready to get back and see the family. I'm not so ready for the colder temps though. We did our work and in between rounds we loaded up some stuff. We got the bikes, kayaks, and one of the rugs put away. I also did the rest of our laundry. It seems everyone wanted to get there laundry done today. There was quite a line. The good news is I won't be fixing supper tonight. We are meeting up at the pavilion for a farewell pizza party. There are 3 of us leaving tomorrow with more in the next few days. Out with the old in with the new....We had a good dinner with lots of wonderful folks. We visited then said our good byes. It was a good season with great volunteers.

Well that's it, another volunteer season under our belts. It was a shortened season for us, we are leaving 2 weeks early. The weather we had was a little of everything. We started with really nice weather in December. In January in cooled way down with lots of rain and wind. February and March was a mix of all that. We did some new things, some repeat things and still have some things we need to do. We went back to some of our favorite places to eat and found some new ones to put on that list. We love the area that's for sure. The volunteers here are wonderful people and we are so happy to be working with them...so long for now.
