1 Month Down

Monday January 29- It was a big day. We got up early but couldn't feed Miss Ruby. She is going in to get those extra teeth pulled. When I noticed the teeth I had never seen anything like that before. I looked online and found out that it is not that uncommon for small dogs. I called Peggy Adams, that's where we had her fixed and I thought they could do it or give me someplace in the area that could. Well they don't do that sort of thing but gave me a number. I called and told them what was going on and they gave me an estimate that was reasonable. I talked it over with Jeff and we called back to set up this appointment. So today was the day. We were suppose to drop her off between 9-10, at St. Francis Animal Shelter. When we pulled into the parking lot both of us were a bit skeptical. We didn't want to judge a book by it's cover so we went in. The lady at the desk was friendly enough. After we left her both of us didn't feel all that good leaving. It was going to be a long 5 1/2 hours. We had a few things to get done. There was the dreaded Walmart across the street so we went in to get what we needed there. Then Jeff went to The Guitar Center to get his guitar adjusted, but there was no tech there today. Next we drove over to get some lunch at Outback. Our lunch was really good and so was the service. We looked at a few stores before heading back to get our baby. When we arrived there was 3 other people waiting to pick up there animals. When they brought Ruby out we both felt horrible. She wasn't very happy with us. The lady that brought Ruby out was different. I think she was a vet tech. She asked us if we wanted the teeth they pulled, and handed me a container. I looked in and saw that there was only like 4 teeth in there. I knew she had more than that, that needed pulled. I asked her if they got all those extra teeth on top and she assured me they got all of them. I just figured that they were so small that they didn't keep them. I never dreamed I should have checked. I did not.... well I should have. We got her home and she was still sleepy so we babied her. I brought her up on my lap to rest. After she was super relaxed I thought I would look in her mouth. Well the double row of teeth on top, they were all still there. They only pulled her double canines. Well to say I was upset was an understatement. I called the office and left a message. I asked them to call me back.

Tuesday January 30- We went to work, waiting to get a call. Well they never called back. I thought they would when they arrived and heard the message. Well that didn't happen so I called back. She said well the Doc will probably have us come back over and he will remove them for free. Well did I tell you it was about 1 hour round trip there. Also it wouldn't be for free because we already paid the price you asked for. We just couldn't understand how you can miss a whole second row of teeth in such a little mouth. Well Jeff and I neither one wanted to take her back there. We kind of don't trust them anymore. Jeff asked for some compensation, and wanted to talk to the vet. Let me just tell you this is the start of a very long story.

Wednesday January 31- Back to work today. We tried calling the vet and all we got was an answering machine. Never a call back. Jeff is having some issues with the satellite. Thank goodness our computer techs are here in the park. Jeffrey and Maren dropped by and worked the problem. It nice to have friends that have knowledge in such things. We had planned on going down to the river for a trip up to Trapper Nelson's place. When we went to get the tickets they told us the tide was too low so we will have to do that another time.

Thursday February 1- Last day of work this week. A beauty of a sunrise today. We went up to see how many sites are leaving today.....40. We have never had that many before. So we had a busy day. I called the vet again and after about 4 calls they finally answered. She said the vet said we could have 1/2 our money back, and Ruby's teeth would probably fall out on there own. I wondered why they think that now because when I called them to tell them the problem they told us...if they haven't fallen out by now they aren't going to. So now we will see if the money comes back to us....
We didn't have to do supper here tonight because we are attending a dinner at Generation Church. The have get together's every so often for the dream team, the people that volunteer at the church. Tonight it's a stacation. They had food from all different countries. We liked the Mexican and French the best. Taco stuff from Mexico and Chocolate bread pudding from France....yummm.

They recognized some of the outstanding volunteers and it was a good time of fellowship. I really like how this church is grateful and appreciates everyone's hard work. Nothing goes unnoticed.

Friday February 2- Today was a work day around home. Along with the usual cleaning also took care of some banking and prescriptions. It's really nice to be able to take care of things online. One of the guys here found some buoys and brought them to me. I painted them today and put our name on it....I'm going to hang it outside to help people remember our names. I know with all the people we meet I have a hard time remembering names. Jeff also made a turkey breast in our instant pot. We really love ours. It cooks everything so fast and improves the tenderness of the meat. We love ours for sure. It takes a while to figure out all the details because it's hard to trust the short cook time. It's Jeff's toy and he is doing most of the cooking with it.

Saturday February 3- It's really windy again today...we are helping with the next volunteer potluck so I worked today on a trivia game for that. Ashton is playing hockey today and they won both of them. So proud of how well they are doing. Really miss that we can't see them. The volunteers went down to the river concessions to enjoy happy hour with each other. We kind of take over that place.

I guess we didn't get quite happy enough so we headed down to Tiki 52. There was a guy playing there that Jeff really likes so off we went. Jason Montero is his name and he is really good..one of Jeff's favorites.

Sunday February 4- It's Super Bowl Sunday. First we greeted at church. Then we came home and I got stuff ready for tonight. First we went to Jeffrey and Maren's for dinner. She made crock pot lasagna, which was super good. Then we came to our rig to watch the game. It was a really good game and we enjoyed the game and the company. I made a halftime snack, something I saw on pinterest. Well I think we can put this is the category of epic fail. The three of them love corn dogs and these where corn dog bites. They looked good going in but they wouldn't come out...oh well I tried.

Good thing I had made some chex party mix too. The Eagles won and it was an exciting game right to the finish. Usually the commercials are better than the game. This year the game was equally as good.

Monday February 5- Late night for us but the dogs still got up at 6 AM. We decided to go for lunch at a restaurant we liked last year. We drove down to Juno beach and found Captain Charlies Reef Grill. It is a local place and the food and help are excellent. They are known for there seafood. The prices are reasonable too. First time we went for lunch. After  came home and hung around here. Kip and Amanda came by and asked us to join them for happy hour at The Twisted Tuna. We went...we have really been happy lately, well besides the vet thing.

Tuesday February 6- Back to work today and it is a warm one. We hurried to get done because today there was a rocket launch. They are launching The Falcon Heavy today at 1:30. Well Jeff kept checking on line. They had to move it back because of wind sheers. First it was moved to 2:20, then 3:45. We went up to the tower here in the park to see if we could get a better look. Jeffrey and Maren came too. It was pretty exciting to watch. Then we watch 2 of the 3 rocket boosters land standing upright on line. It was crazy.

waiting for the launch
look closely for the white dot
there she goes

Not a bad view either

Thursday February 8- The last couple days we just did our work and enjoyed what the park and campsite have to offer. We are really lucky, meeting wonderful people along the way. Last night we had supper at Outback with Jeffrey and Maren, not very good this time. Can't win'em all. This afternoon we went to happy hour at the concession area here in the park. Many of the volunteers joined in. Always fun to visit with them folks.

Friday February 9- We have big plans today. After inheriting a brand new rug from the neighbors, because they thought it might have ants on it....we met Kip and Amanda, Eric and Susan at Jimmy Graham park to launch the boat. It was a beautiful day for a boat ride, so away we went.

We made our way up the waterway and landed at the Twisted Tuna, we kind of like this place. We had lunch there and everyone loved what they got. Oh what a wonderful way to spend a day.

Saturday February 10- This morning we got up early to ride our bikes down to the river to watch a love run that was taking place. A lot of people from church were running so we wanted to cheer them on. Ruby rode in my bike basket but it was a 5 mile ride there and it was a little long for her.

The 5 mile ride home seemed a bit longer going back. Again Ruby wasn't too happy in the basket, good thing I bungee her in. The rest of the day was spent hanging around our site. The days go so fast because we run in to so many neat people and get to visiting.

Sunday February 11- Started the day in church and it was wonderful. We had such a good time on the boat, they invited us again and we accepted. This time we met at the boat ramp here at the park. Lee a rangers wife joined us too. We headed down the river, it was a bit windy so this way was protected some. We went to Tiki 52, one place we really like. This time it was super busy, and the service was super slow. After sitting for an hour with no service, we abandoned ship, so to speak and headed for a new spot. We pulled in to the dock at U Tiki and was met with a smile. This place was located right across the water from the Jupiter Lighthouse. We found a table and ordered off the outdoor menu. The food was wonderful and so was the service. We will be returning here.

Well that's the end of a couple really great weeks. Can't wait to enjoy the next two weeks.

A Cool Florida

Monday January 15- This weather is really weird this year. It's been cooler than normal, wetter than normal and windier than usual. I know it's better than Iowa or up north, they have really been getting hit with cold and snow. I keep telling everyone that I came here for the warm weather and I admit I'm missing it. Our friends that are visiting the park are in a tear drop camper and the weather isn't really good for that. We invited them over for coffee and breakfast this morning. Then we had some things we needed to do and they had some places they wanted to go. We drove north to Stuart, Ruby needed some dog food. It was a bit of a challenge finding some place that carries it. We found one though. When we got back the wind has really picked up...it's super windy. We had Ron and Barb over for supper tonight. It was to cold and windy to sit outside so we stayed in and avoided the wind and weather.

Tuesday January 16- We had to work today so our friends did some adventuring while we worked. Then we went out for supper with them. We went to The Ale House. We have ate there before. The food was good but we enjoyed the company more.

Wednesday January 17- We had to say good bye to Barb and Ron today. We took a break from work to see them off. Then we finished up. Tonight after work we went to Norman and Diane's condo. We met them through church. The first year we were down here we joined there life group at  church. Diane told us that they were having gourmet food trucks coming to there condo's. The weather again was a bit cool so we went down and got the food, went back up to there place to eat. They live right on the ocean very nice. Jeff and I got a philly cheesesteak  sandwich and it was gourmet, very good. After eating we visited with Norman and Diane, we only see them on Sunday's as we are leaving church. It was nice to just have a good visit with them.

Thursday January 18- Oh my my it was really cold this morning. It started out at 37 degrees. The good news was the sun was shining. Still was really cold riding around in that cart. I said it felt like Iowa with palm trees.

It was a long day, trying to stay warm wears ya out.

Friday January 19- Our day off....yeah. We felt like we needed to do something. We have some cracks on the inside panel of our door in the rig. We decided to get some stuff to fix it ourselves. We seem to have better luck doing things ourselves. At least we will get it done the best we can. First we went to Le Mesa RV. We asked the lady about doors and she was really kind of rude. So we left the store part and headed out to look at some fifth wheels. Didn't see anything we couldn't live without so we left.  We stopped at the Home Depot to get what we needed to fix the door. Then we made our way back home. As we pulled in Sandy and Ken pulled up and said they are getting together down at the concession area for happy hour with some of the volunteers. So we went to join them. It was a pretty good way to end the day.

Saturday January 20- Did some laundry today and took Miss Ruby for a walk. We also got started on the new door panel. We got it cut out but didn't try to put it up yet. We are still trying to figure out exactly what we will do. We got Miss Ruby a pouch to carry her in. I'm not sure how thrilled she is with it? I also did some baking today. We are having company tomorrow.

Sunday January 21-We greeted at church today. This is a great place to be on Sunday morning....we leave feeling so much more happy and very blessed. We got home and made brunch. Then I put together some chili for supper tonight. Ken and Mary are coming over to watch the football game. The Eagles verses the Vikings. Well they are from Philly so I guess you know who we were cheering for. It was nice out today so I got to do some quilting outside. With our new puppy I can't quilt when she is out. She likes to chew on the batting. So I have to have her in a pen to quilt now. About 5 o'clock our company showed up. We had chili for supper and then watched the football game. It was a good night for Eagle fans....

Monday January 22- It's a beauty of a day today. Decided to take a walk to Hobe Tower. Jeff and Miss Ruby came too. I let Ruby walk some but brought her carrier to try after she got tired. I think she likes it, especially when she's tired. It was a nice day to take a walk.

After we took some pictures we headed back down and made our way back to the rig. I enjoyed the sunshine outside and sat outside.

Tuesday January 23- Well it's back to work for us. With the sunshine it brings out the people. The part of the job we like the most. We get to visit with the campers. With the cool temps, rain and wind everyone seems to stay in there campers. Now everyone is out and walking, biking and visiting. That's what I like about camping. Then when we were at home taking a break we had someone come get us and tell us that there is a coral snake in the road. So Jeff and I went up to see. Thank goodness it was dead. Jeff scooped it up and put it in a bucket. Before that he made sure it was dead.

That was enough excitement for the day. We finished up work and then Jeff made soup and I made cupcakes. Tonight we have a volunteer potluck supper. That started at 6. There was a good crowd, lots of food, fun games, and lots of conversing. It was a fun evening.

Wednesday January 24- Back to work and it was fairly easy today. Not a lot of people leaving. After work I ran to the store. Jeffrey and Maren are coming in tomorrow so I got stuff for supper. I also looked for a trivia game for next month's volunteer potluck. We are helping with the organizing of it.

Thursday January 25- Last day of work this week. We got an early start today. After work and before our company showed up, I gave Ruby a bath. She really likes her bath I think. Jeffrey and Maren arrived and came over to eat. We made stir fry and it was good. While they were gone they worked the big RV show in Tampa. They brought us some info and some free goodies. It's always fun to catch up with them.

Friday January 26- We had crazy wind today. I got my laundry done first thing. Then we went to the mall to look around. I found out they have a new Hobby Lobby. I needed to get some things there to finish up my new grand daughters scrapbook. We found it and I got just what I needed. We also made a stop at Trader Joe's. We got back and waited to hear from Seth. Ashton has a hockey tournament in Wisconsin this weekend. The first game was a win 6-0! Way to go boys.

Saturday January 27- Again with the wind. We went to lunch with Jeffrey and Maren. We ate at the Cheesecake Factory. We had good food and great company. After eating we went to the movie theater. We saw The Post. We liked the movie but it was kind of slow to start. Before heading home we hit The Yardhouse so they could have a beer. I watched.

We headed back to the rig. We were waiting for results. Hailey had a gymnastics meet and Ashton had another hockey game. Ashton had another good game. Seth said Ashton played one of his best games. Hailey on the other hand didn't fair as well. She is a tough competitor and took it well.

Sunday January 28- It's church day. Kip and Amanda came to church to share in an awesome message. Then we went for breakfast after at IHop. It was busy but our food was good. Then Jeff and I went to check out a park, Riverbend. It is a great place to launch your kayaks. Then you make your way down the river and end up at Jonathan Dickinson Park. We think that's something we want to try and get done this year.

We came home and walked the dog and waited for updates on Ashton's championship game. We got to watch a little of it live on facebook. It was another win. So proud of how hard he has been working. Way to go Blizzard!!!
