Finishing up February

Monday February 17- Today I worked at home. It's laundry day. I took advantage of the laundry facilities. I washed quilts today along with everything else. Then while waiting I got busy here at home cleaning up. Jeff decided to make the last of the fish we had in the freezer, ones we caught while in the Keys. I made some potato salad to go with. I have also been getting some quilting done. So far I have finished 2 rows with 6 more to go.

My favorite tree here in the park

Thursday February 20- It's another scorcher out there today. It is the last day of work on or regular schedule. The last 3 days we have just hung around here after work. Yesterday after work we were going to drive the truck to Aldi's. When we went to start it, the battery was dead. Tried to jump it but that didn't work either. So Jeff put it on a battery charger. After work today he went to town to do a few errands. Now he said the dual settings for the A.C./ Heat isn't working on the passenger side. It just blows hot air. So now he will do some research to see if there is a fix for that. Hopefully we won't have to take it in.

Friday February 21- Well it's gray gloomy and wet outside. It is also about 20 degrees cooler than yesterday. We had Jeffrey and Maren over for waffles today. They turned out good and everyone had plenty to eat.

After breakfast I ran to town. I wasn't gone long. Then the rest of the day hung around here. I finished  quilting the 4th row today. That half of the 8 rows. We watched a lot of T.V. today.

Saturday February 22- Well today we went to work. We are working for Steve. We will get paid back when we go to Disney with the kids the first week of March. The good news is, the temperature has cooled off so we aren't sweating while cleaning. The day went well. After work we cleaned up and went to town. We had planned to meet up with some friends later. First we went to Square Grouper to get a drink and listen to some music. The music wasn't for us. We didn't stay long. Then we went to Guanabana's. We have never been here before but have heard lots of good things about it here. We figured out where we needed to sit to listen to the music. In the bar area you just have to hang around and grab a table when one comes available. Jeff snatched us one and it turned out to be a great one. We then were joined by Mike, Pam, Ron and Ann. They are all volunteers here at the park. We had invited them to come and hear The String Assassins. We had drinks, dinner and lots of fun. The food was ok. Our server was awesome. The music was great as always. Did I say the company was great?...yep it was. The place got packed but we were back enough that the people weren't hanging around us.

After leaving here and before we got home we made one more stop. Tiki 52 was on the way home and Jeffrey and Maren were there listening to The Leafy Greens, so we stopped. They even had a couple stools for us to join them.

We stayed until the show was over and then headed home. We have to work tomorrow too.

My tree

Sunday February 23- Today started with a beauty of a sunrise. We have to work again. We have lots of campers leaving today. This working on the weekend is going to really mess up my schedule. It's going to be similar to springing forward. After work we had plans to try another new place. It is called Josco's. We are going to see The Leafy Greens again.  We  invited some campers, Tom and Michelle to join us. We ordered some pizza for dinner and  enjoyed eating and visiting. Then we moved to another area to watch the music. They had some comfy chairs and couches.

The show was good and the atmosphere was nice. It was a nice evening. The music was great as usual. Tonight they had a couple people joining them. We didn't stay for the whole show this time.

Monday February 24- Today was a big day.....today was the day the decals are going on the slide. I didn't want to help on this. Maren volunteered to help, Jeffrey joined in too. I did the laundry and hung around to take pictures. Jeff and I taped the decals up to see how they would look. Well the last decal on the bottom of the slide was the wrong one. It was for the other side. The swope went the wrong way. So we had to figure out what we were going to do with that. Here are some pictures of the process. It went really well.

What we ended doing on the bottom was customizing our own design. We used the end of the decal from the top that was gold. It was really short so we added the burgundy one under it. Nobody has this design on there rig...just us. We are happy with the results. Not sure if we would tackle that job again. After we had Jeffrey and Maren over for a happy hour to celebrate our decal assembly. Then after dinner Wayne and Linda stopped over. She wants to learn to play the guitar. She brought her guitar over and she and Jeff changed the  strings. They got that done and we did a whole lot of visiting. They didn't get much guitar playing done. That will have to happen the next time.

Tuesday February 25- Back to work...our usual schedule. We will be working the next 3 days. It was a really nice day out there. We didn't have any issues today. Things went good and we finished early. After work I made cupcakes and cookies. Pam and Mike are having a dinner tonight at the pavilion. They are heading home on Sunday. Pam made barbecue. It was really good. We had a pretty sunset too.

Wednesday February 26- It was a warm one but that's going to change tonight. another beauty of a sunrise. This tree makes me happy every morning. We had a great day at work. We thought we were going to be done at 11:30. Then there was a mix up so we had to hang around until noon. I finished another row of quilting. While I was sitting outside sewing we had a visitor. Fred came up on his cart to visit. He used to volunteer here with us. So we had a nice visit with him.

Thursday February 27- Well it felt a bit different out there this morning. It was almost a 30 degree difference from the high yesterday to the low this morning.  It really rained a bunch last night. We at least had sunshine today. We are ready to get more than one day off between shifts. We are ready for our 4 days off.  After work we decided to go to CG Burgers for a early supper. Last year we went and really liked there burgers. We went and ordered our burgers, garlic parm fries and a chocolate milkshake. Jeff said the bill was $30.00. Well when we got our food my burger wasn't done so I took it back. Then Jeff said he didn't want any of the fries. They were really greasy and not that hot. When they brought my burger I told her about the fries. She offered a replacement. We just got regular fries this time and they were good. The milkshake was good the first time. Not sure if we will go back or not. They were very good about fixing things though.

Friday February 28- No work today but Friday's have become my laundry days. I also felt like I needed to clean the rig inside too. Our son Justin and his family are flying to Orlando today so we waited to hear from them. I also finished another row on my quilt. We mostly just took the day off. We'll run tomorrow.

Saturday February 29- Happy Leap Day!! It's still below normal on the temperature but the sun is shining and the sky is blue. It is a pretty day so I got Ruby out and walked her around the camp loops. Then we put together kabobs for tonight's supper. Jeffrey and Maren are leaving the park tomorrow and we won't see them until December. Wanted to send them off with good memories. Before supper we went to The Square Grouper to listen to Jodi Gaines. It was a bit chilly but we scored a table that  had a heater above it, that helped. Jeffrey came and picked us up in there brand new car and drove us to there. It was a fun time and the music was great as always.

When we left there we came back to the rig and cooked up the supper. Everything was good and we finished off the night with dessert before saying our good byes. We will look forward to seeing them in December.

Sunday March 1- A brand new month. Just can't believe how fast our time is going here. We already have been here for 2 months. We got up and got ready to head to church. Last Sunday we worked so didn't get to church. The worship was awesome and we had a guest preacher...Jim Frease. He is here every winter while we are here and look forward to seeing him every time. He always has a great message and is a hoot to listen to. We definitely left with a great big blessing today.

We have about 1 and 1/2 months to go. I'm sure that time will fly as well. Until next time.....
