Getting Back To Normal

Monday August 5- I had such a busy week and weekend that I didn't want to get out of bed this morning. I was awake and had all kinds of things running through my head that I wanted to get done today. I needed to get back in the routine with cleaning the shower house. Then I needed to tend to my bird feeders. I took them all down and washed them good and filled them up. It seems my hummingbirds are returning. Not like we had in the Spring but more than zero. I had to get all this done early because Jeff wanted to run in to town to go to the social security office. So we arrived there before 9 a.m. When we pulled in we spotted a line waiting for the doors to open. Well Jeff got out and got in line. I decided to take off and do a little shopping. I wasn't sure how long it would take and neither was he. I received a call from Jeff in less than an hour. We were both surprised with that. I came and got him. He hadn't finished his application but they gave him a code so he could get in and do it online. After I picked him up we went to the other side of town. I had some things I was looking for things. So more shopping for me. Jeff looked in the guitar store and then we met for some lunch at Firehouse Subs. Then before heading back home we stopped at the store, getting some groceries. When I arrived home I started some cleaning. I cleaned out cabinets and closets. I even gathered a bag full of stuff to donate to goodwill. So I think I had a pretty productive day.

Tuesday August 6- Today Jeff started filling out his social security stuff. It's never as easy as it's suppose to be. He ended up having to call on one of the questions. At least he got it all done. We got a phone call from Seth. His car wouldn't start today. He's super busy at work, so he asked if we could go over and see if it's just the battery. So we did. First we jumped it and it started so Jeff went to take it to have it checked. Then he went to purchase a battery for  him. Well the first place didn't have the right battery so he had to try another. Then had to help the guy put it in. Can anybody do there jobs anymore? Well after that came back home. After lunch I started cutting fabric for my next project. I am going to make really big blocks on this quilt. So after cutting I laid out the quilt. I ended up changing my mind on the fabrics. So now I have 3 fabrics that I'm not using on the front, so I will use them on the back panel instead.

Wednesday August 7- Today I got busy cleaning our home. I have been busy doing everything but. If I don't get cleaning first thing in the morning it doesn't get done. It was a nice day out there so we decided to go for a bike ride.

After returning home we had lunch and I got busy sewing blocks together. Then pressing and sewing blocks in to rows. Pressing again and sewing rows together. With using such big blocks the putting together of the front comes together really quick. With this quilt I will do some piecing on the back as well. Using those fabrics that didn't make the top. To finish off this day we went to a brand new place for us. We went to 30 Hop. We arrived to take advantage of happy hour specials. The place was really hopping......

After having a really nice dinner we moved up to the roof. They have a band that will start playing at 7:30. We found a great spot to sit and enjoyed the weather waiting for The Cobras to start playing. We had never seen this band before. They play blues, rock a billy, and bluegrass. Really liked the area and the band was so unique.

We got to watch the sunset and listen to some great music. It was a really nice evening. We will be returning here. 2 thumbs up.

Thursday August 8- Today we hung around all day. Ruby and I set outside and noticed a toad that came to visit. I also did my sewing and got the quilt top done.

We decided to take a trip in to see Maddyn's new drum set. Justin found them online and she was excited about them. I think she will need a lot of practicing.

Friday August 9- We have a really busy day planned today. Maddyn's daycare is closed so we are filling in for the day. We arrived early with our laundry in tow. I started 1 load of laundry before starting our adventures for the day. First we went for breakfast at a new spot. Brewhemia in downtown Cedar Rapids. We ordered our food and was entertained by Maddyn while we waited.

After our meal and yummy coffee we hit the road. Next stop a trip to Walmart. We spotted some kids golf clubs and Maddyn wanted them. Well we asked her first. I gave her the red ones but she was sure the blue ones were the perfect ones for her. So we traded the red ones in. She loved the blue ones so much she kissed them. She is a friendly little person. I don't think one person went by that she didn't have to say hi to...again and again until they said hi back. She is a hoot.

After Walmart we took this party to the park. We drove to Morgan Creek and found the playground. Maddyn was ready to weeeeeeee.

As you can see it was a beauty of a day. Maddyn had a great time. We had a hard time getting her out of the swing. She loves to go weeeeee. It was getting close to lunch time so we needed to get her back. I did more laundry and made Maddyn some lunch. Justin and Molly got home around lunch time. We ended up going to get some lunch because I had to wait for the laundry to get done. Then we went home. After arriving I received a phone call from some friends that are close to us and wanted to know if we wanted some company. I had time to put everything away before Mike and Sue showed up. Jeff worked with Mike at the Fire Department. It was nice to catch up with them. When they left we had planned to go to Rock The Block but decided to just stay home instead.

Saturday August 10- Up early to clean before the campers wake up. Then we are going to stay around here today. I cut more fabric to get the back panel put together. I got everything else I needed to put the quilt together for quilting when we went to Walmart. So I finished up the back panel. While I was sitting outside I saw somebody pull up in our drive. We have company....The Griffey's, they stopped by to tell us about there new camp hosting gig in Minnesota. They get every other week off. We haven't seen them since they started there. They seem to like it and are getting in the swing of things. We miss them camping here, they were our favorite camping neighbors. When they left it was time for supper. We fixed us a good dinner and then got ready to go to The Moco Gameroom and Hotdog Bar. Wellstrung was playing there tonight. It was there first time there and ours. This was a really cool place. When they started playing there weren't many people there but the crowd grew and the audience was very responsive. It was a great evening.

We stayed around for the first 2 sets but left before they were finished. It was a great show for them.

Sunday August 11- With a lat night, morning came quick. Cleaned the shower house and got ready for church. We are greeting today. After church a quick stop at the store and then home. It is really a warm one out there. But the heat is nothing compared to the humidity. I wanted to go outside and lay out the quilt panels with the batting in between. Then I pinned them together for quilting. I still have to figure out how I will quilt this one. It was so hot out there I had to have a fan. I don't think I have ever sweated before pinning a quilt. I got it done. We watched as all the campers made there way home.

Monday August 12- Woke up to foggy weather. I stayed in after cleaning, working on the blog and getting started quilting on my new project. Jeff took care of a couple appointments set. We have the dogs vet appointment set up. Then we got reservations for a tour of a working dairy farm with the kids set up too. Hailey got out her just in time for supper. She didn't waste any time getting busy playing games with Papa. They played Old Maid and Memory. Hailey must have had a busy day because she was asleep early tonight.

Tuesday August 13- After having pancakes for breakfast, the festivities began right away. They played Yahtzee. Hailey was practicing before the game started and got a yahtzee. When the game started I figured she used up her luck on the pregame one but no. She rolled a Yahtzee with one roll. She was really excited, it was her first one in a game. The Papa got one too, with some luck from Miss Ruby. The both had them with 2's. Of course papa had to say ROOTBEER!

Then we got ready to go to the movie. We went in the morning. It's movie day! We went to see Racing In The Rain. Hailey wasn't sure she wanted to go but all of us loved the movie. The popcorn wasn't bad either.

After the excellent movie we headed back for some lunch. After lunch Hailey and I got busy cutting up the fabric she picked out a couple weeks ago. She did really good with listening because we used a rotary cutter and I wanted her to know that she needed to be extra careful. She really had fun. After cutting I showed her how she can put together blocks in many different ways. I'm not sure she understands it all but she is excited to try.

The rest of the afternoon we took it kind of easy. Hailey has gymnastics tonight. She sat outside with Miss Ruby today. She has a hard time leaving the dog alone......

We took Hailey to class and Jeff and I went to dinner at Los Compadres. We had a very nice mexican dinner, and Jeff really likes there margarita's. It's also very reasonable. We went back to watch Hailey at her gymnastics for a bit. Then we went home stopping at a store called Save A Lot. They are suppose to be selling my favorite sausage that I can't find anywhere. So excited when they had it....I bought extra.

It was a very busy Tuesday. With school starting soon we won't have many more of these days. Hailey won't be able to spend the day with us.

Wednesday August 14- Took it easy today, just hanging around here. We are having dinner tonight in Center Point with some camping friends. We ate at Joensy's who are kind of known for there giant tenderloins. We met Richard and his wife there along with her parents for a very enjoyable evening. The food was great and reasonable.

Thursday August 15- Today was a busy busy day. First we had to make it to Justin's house to watch Maddyn by 7 a.m. Her daycare is taking the day off. Then the fun began. We started off with pancakes, Maddyn loves them with whipped cream. We gave her a little extra. Papa says everything is better with whipped cream.

We decided to stay at the house today. I needed to get the laundry done while I was there too. So we just played there. Maddyn did puzzles, read books, and played music with Papa. She also showed us her muscles, one of her new tricks. It really doesn't matter what you do she is pretty happy doing it.

After giving her lunch and getting her down for her map Justin came home to finish working from here. We needed to leave because we are taking a road trip tonight to Moline, Illinois. We are going to see Bryan Adams at the Tax Slayer Arena at 8 p.m. We needed to take care of the dogs before heading out. We left early so we could get a bite to eat before. We also had time to stop at Camping World. We ate at Cracker Barrel and our dinner was great. We still had some time to spare so Jeff found a brewery to stop at. We went to The Bent River Brewery. Jeff had a couple drinks before going in. We arrived right after the doors opened. Waited in line a bit to get in. Then we found our seats. They were on the floor. We usually don't do that but we got row 21, and right in the center of the stage. We even had a row in front of us so we had all kinds of leg room. We also had some very nice neighbors we visited with before the show. Terry and Kim kept us entertained while waiting for the show to start. The show was awesome. One of my favorites. It was a really great night for sure.

After the show I drove home and we arrived home around midnight. It was a late night for us but a great one.

Friday August 16- We stayed around the campground during the day watching as all the weekend campers pulled in. Seth called to ask if we had plans tomorrow? Looks like we will be going to lunch with him and Katie tomorrow. After taking the day off from going we headed in to town to go to Rock The Block. We thought we got there early, a little after 5, it doesn't start until 6. When we arrived it was already busier than any of the others we have attended. It didn't stop people from coming. It was crazy packed. The band we had never heard, The Fex, a Steely Dan tribute band. Jeff and I aren't even huge fans of Steely Dan. We liked it alright. When we arrived there we heard Janie holler at us so we sat by them. Her and John got there with there chairs at 4:15. Who would have thought it would have been so busy.

We listened to the first set. Then we loaded up our stuff and took ourselves to our next stop for the evening. Justin was playing with Jarrod Hogan at the Della Vita Wine Bar. Never been here, it is right downtown. Its not far from where we were. The hard part was finding a parking spot. We got here a little after they had started. It was a very small place with not many people there. It got busier, which was good.

We stayed around for a couple sets and then back to the campground. It was another nice evening.

Saturday August 17- This morning when we opened the bedroom door Miss Ruby was sitting there waiting for us. That is a surprise because we crate her at night. So either she has figured out the lock system or Jeff didn't get it latched. Well no damage done. We stayed here until 11 then off to meet Seth, Katie and the kids. We followed them to Solon to eat at Big Grove Brewery. We even sat outside because it wasn't too hot and it was a cloudy day, so perfect for outdoor dining. We had a very nice lunch. After we looked at a nice shop we saw and had to take a look at.

We came on back and both of us were ready for some down time. We just hung around here. The park is really hopping. School starts soon so it should slow down some.

Sunday August 18- We were woke up around 4 a.m., it was pouring. It lasted for a few hours. They said maybe a couple inches. When we finally got up at 7, still raining some. I can say who is happy, the hummingbirds. They're back.

Went to church and then right back here. We are spending the day here, relaxing and watching all of our campers leave.....until next time......
